Searching For The Perfect Spot

We have been searching extensively in our area for the perfect spot to build our cabin. Every weekend for the past two months, and almost everyday after work we head north. We’ve checked out small lakes, riversides, and now it seems we are up in the mountains. Snow covered mountains.

This is where we are headed!

When you are looking for the perfect spot of in which you want to be your little home in the woods, you don’t just pick any random spot, you also have to be wary of trap-lines, gold claims, hunters etc. We’ve found spots we’ve liked before only to find that at the small lakes we’ve been too, there’s been no moving water and beaver dams on them. So that’s a definite negative. On the riverside we found a fantastic spot, but then were soon found by a group of hunters. Now we are up in the mountains. We have found an old trail that is leading up the backside of a huge snow covered mountain and have been working at re-clearing the trail so we can hopefully get a look at the area!

We have to be able to get our truck into the trail, because we are not hiking in. We have come across way to many bears since we started searching to be doing that. I always though too that bears were more scared of you, then you are of them. Well I’ve definitely been proven wrong in the past couple of days!

I am hoping that this trail were following pays off, and that we will be able to either A. Put a trap-line on it, B. put a gold claim on it, or C. Lease the land from the crown (which has it’s issues in it’s own). We would also just like to start building already! I feel like every trail we follow were held in suspense until we see the end. Hopefully this trail were on now is the one.
